Monday 19 July, 2021, marked the long-awaited ‘Freedom Day’ – the day in which almost all remaining coronavirus restrictions were lifted in England.
One of these rules related to the legal requirement regarding the wearing of face masks.
Up until ‘Freedom Day’, all Brits – unless exempt – were required to wear a face covering inside public premises and on public transport.
Now face masks will no longer be compulsory in these settings although Prime Minister Boris Johnson ‘expects’ people to continue wearing them in busy areas – according to Metro reports.
In fact, guidance published earlier this week, as was reported on by the Daily Mail, stated: “Government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings in crowded areas such as public transport.”
