No one could have predicted that, six months later, the world of work would be in such a drastically different state. Many of the basic rules that some simply took as standard are, for better or for worse, being put to the test – and some simply aren’t surviving.
For example, whilst remote working isn’t a new concept, never before the COVID-19 pandemic hit would so many businesses realistically be considering doing away with the office altogether. Similarly, never before has having globally implemented video conferencing and work chat software been as essential as it is now.
However, the widespread anxiety of the 50% of managers who, before the pandemic, would never have allowed remote working in any form (according to Deloitte data) is having a drastic impact on employee wellbeing through digital micromanaging and monitoring.
