New research conducted by Adzuna has revealed that the number of advertised vacancies has fallen by 4.5% over the past month and a significant 10.7% over the past six months.
Whilst the UK’s jobs market has seen a period of candidate-driven recruitment, January’s decline in open positions could well signal a key shift in trends. This is compounded by the lack of a historic seasonal boost to vacancies within the first three months of the year.
As the month-on-month rate of decline is decreasing, January’s fall in numbers represents an average loss of around 48,000 vacancies compared to previous months.
