What workers are REALLY doing when they should be in virtual meetings

Since coronavirus hit UK shores, workers have been communicating primarily through meeting software such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Slack. For the most part, these technologies do an effective job of bridging the communicating gap caused by the pandemic. However, this has come with some caveats.

For example, the steep rise in volume of meetings. A recent study from Doodle found that the increase in digital meetings that the average worker must now attend leaves 38% feeling exhausted by the end of the week, whilst 30% said that this huge volume of communication, and the time it detracts from working hours, makes them far more stressed.

However the far more widely publicised fallout from remote meetings is the tenuous line between home life and work life. Many employees have been caught on camera wearing no trousers, for example, whilst others have brought their laptop into the toilet, unaware that they were broadcasting from their webcam.
